Perfect Cycling at the London Royal Parks

The Royal Parks provide a great "green route" for you to take your bike in London. The area spans 2,000 hectares and consists of eight different parks. It was once used as a private hunting ground for the Royal Family until it has been opened to the public. Now, countless of activities can be done in this well-maintained park such as boating, walking tours and most of all biking. Here are just four excellent parks where you can have pedals cycling on a great day.

Start your pedals cycling adventure at the Kensington Gardens. Although you can't cycle on its pedestrian paths, the Broad, Palace and Mount Walks are excellent areas for your bike. Aside from the Kensington Palace, you can also visit the Victoria and Albert, Science, and Natural History museums, and the Royal Albert Hall. Then you can direct your bike towards its north-western end to see the elaborate fountains of the Italian Garden. You can also bring along your kids to bike and stop by and play at the Princess Diana memorial Playground and take refreshments later at its Caf.

Meanwhile, take the next pedals cycling route on Kensington's neighbor park, the Hyde Park. It has many entrance points and cycling paths that run along the Serpentine. Moreover, Hyde Park is also a popular venue for concerts where you bike away with great live music. The Lido Caf is now fully refurbished where you can take a break from your bike and enjoy the view of the river where people are enjoying boat rides.

Your next cycling destination should be on the Green Park. Even if there are no lakes and buildings there, fill your eyes with over 250,000 daffodils that burst in spring. Take your pedals cycling route at the Constitution Hill where King Charles II used to have his daily constitution walk together with his spaniels. Cycling the Mall and Constitution Hill are best done on Sundays where these paths are closed for vehicles. If you're a huge fan of Lady D, never miss seeing the House of Spencer located along the Queens Walk. Or, you can buy tickets to the Buckingham Palace which is located next to the cycling path.

Finally, after visiting the Buckingham Palace; cycle next to the nearby St. James Park. Take the pedals cycling path on the North Horse Ride which is parallel to the Mall. The Park's central lake is home to large populations of ducks and pelicans and you can stop your cycling for a while to watch the birds being fed at 2:30 pm. If you are fond of gardening, visit the Nash Shrubberies where shrubs, trees and perennials are arranged in picture-perfect ways. And if you are already tired from cycling take a refreshing break at the popular "Inn the Park" restaurant under its green roof.
